A new way of learning pointe
Over the last 100 years, ballet training has evolved. Learning to dance on pointe has not.
4Pointe aims to change that.
There has been tremendous change in classical ballet in just the last 20 years. With input from Pilates, Yoga, Girotonics, PBT, and physical therapists, dancers have learned better and more effective ways of training and using their bodies. They are becoming more fit and aware than ever before. Yet, in all of this time pointe training has remained the same or even fallen behind.
The Method
The 4Pointe method focuses on 4 elements:
alignment of the foot and leg
strengthening of the muscles in the foot and leg
articulation of the foot and ankle
repetition of the exercises at different tempos and intensity
This systematic method requires daily repetition to make sure that the twenty-six bones, thirty joints and one hundred muscles of the foot develop properly.
Teaching Philosophy
The 4Pointe method is enhanced with a 4 part philosophy consisting of Creativity, Health, Respect, and Motivation.
-
Promoting creativity in class and in teaching by finding new ways to communicate old ideas and information
-
Fostering a healthy work environment for both students and teachers, as well as developing an awareness of the value of a healthy mind and body
-
Encouraging respect for one’s self, one’s place in this art form, and gratitude for the teachers that guide you
